Venom on Ice with Flies

Venom on Ice with Flies

4 cups apple cider or apple juice
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup superfine sugar
1/8 cup raisins
24 oz bottle sparkling cider

Stir together the apple cider, lemon juice and sugar. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

While the *venom* is chilling, use some of it to make the ice cubes. Fill an ice cube tray halfway with some of the venom. Let freeze until solid. Put one or two raisins "flies" into each ice cube, top off with more venom. Freeze until solid.

When ice cubes are frozen, pour the venom into a large pitcher or punch bowl, add sparkling cider and stir gently. You may either add ice cubes to the venom, or divide the ice cubes among glasses before filling.

*Children should always be supervised when preparing or cooking in the kitchen.
